Terms of service
Last updated 2026-09-06 · Version française
These terms govern use of the Rowledger website and software ("the Service"), provided by Faisal Rizwan, carrying on business as Rowledger in Ontario, Canada ("we"). By using the Service you agree to them. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the consumer protection law of the place where you live, including the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and EU consumer law. Where a term conflicts with such a law, the law prevails.
1. The Service
Rowledger is browser-based software that converts bank and credit card statements into spreadsheet and accounting-import formats. Processing happens on your device. We do not receive your files. The converter is rule-based software, not an AI model: it rebuilds rows from the text positions in your PDF and checks them arithmetically against the printed balances.
2. Accounts and licenses
No account is required for the free plan. Pro features are unlocked by a license key sold through our merchant of record, Polar Software Inc. ("Polar"), which is the seller of record and handles payment, taxes, invoices and refunds on our behalf. A license may be activated on up to three devices used by the purchaser or their organisation's staff. Keys may not be resold or published.
3. Free trial
The Pro trial runs in your browser for seven days with no payment details. It ends automatically. Nothing is charged because nothing is on file.
4. Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the price shown at checkout until you cancel. Cancel at any time from the Polar customer portal (the link is in every receipt); access continues to the end of the paid period and nothing further is charged.
- We will email you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect on your renewal. If you do not agree, cancel before the renewal date.
- Our refund policy applies to every purchase: a full refund within 14 days of a first purchase, and within 7 days of a renewal you did not want. Statutory refund rights are unaffected.
- Consumers in the EU and the UK: by starting a Pro trial or activating a license you ask us to deliver digital content immediately and acknowledge that the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal ends once delivery starts. Our 14-day refund policy still applies.
5. Accuracy
Rowledger extracts data from documents you supply and checks it against balances printed in those documents. The reconciliation result is provided to help you review; it is not a guarantee. You remain responsible for reviewing converted data before relying on it for accounting, tax, lending or any other purpose. Rowledger does not provide accounting, tax or legal advice.
6. Acceptable use
Use the Service only with documents you are entitled to process. Do not use it to create misleading financial records, to process documents unlawfully, or to interfere with the Service.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its parsing engine and website content, is owned by us and licensed, not sold. You may not reverse-engineer the license mechanism or redistribute the software. Your documents and the files you export remain yours.
8. Warranty and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is", we disclaim all warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses arising from reliance on converted data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. This section does not exclude or limit anything that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit — for example the warranty of reasonably acceptable quality owed to Ontario consumers, the statutory warranties owed to Quebec consumers, or the digital-content rights of UK consumers.
9. Support
Support replies may be drafted by AI systems and are reviewed by a person; an automated reply will always say that it is automated. Treat factual statements in any reply as something to check against your own records; if a reply is wrong, tell us and a person will correct it.
10. Changes
We may update the Service and these terms. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email of any change that materially affects a paid license; if you do not agree, you may cancel and we will refund any prepaid period you have not used. Other changes take effect when posted.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes may be brought in the courts of Ontario. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring a claim in the courts of the place where you live and to rely on its mandatory consumer law; Quebec consumers are protected by the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and may bring proceedings in Quebec. Nothing in these terms requires you to arbitrate or prevents you from joining a class proceeding or complaining to a regulator.
