Why bookkeepers, accountants and lenders switch

🔒

Client files stay on your machine

Cloud converters upload statements to their servers — and sometimes to third-party AI. Rowledger ships the converter to your browser instead. Nothing to retain, nothing to breach, no DPA to sign.

Every conversion is reconciled

Opening + credits − debits must equal the closing balance, and every running balance must match. Misread digits and missing rows are flagged on the row, not discovered at month-end.

📑

The formats your software actually imports

QBO for QuickBooks Desktop and Online, OFX for Xero and Wave, QIF for Quicken, CSV presets for each platform, and a real Excel workbook with typed dates and numbers.

🧠

No bank templates required

Rowledger detects columns from the layout and proves the assignment arithmetically — so statements from small banks, credit unions and foreign banks convert as well as the big ones.

📷

Scans and photos

Built-in OCR for scanned statements and phone photos, also on-device. The balance check catches OCR slips so you can fix them in place.

💸

Pricing without tricks

No page credits that expire, no "monthly" plans that are secretly annual, cancel in one click. Free for text PDFs; Pro from $14/month or $249 once.

How it works

Drop the statement

PDF from online banking, or a scan/photo. Several at once on Pro.

Rowledger reads the layout

It rebuilds rows from the PDF's own text positions, finds the date and amount columns, and picks the column assignment that reconciles with the printed balances.

Review, then export

Edit any cell in the table; totals and the reconciliation badge update live. Download CSV, Excel, QBO, OFX, QIF or JSON.

Verify the privacy claim yourself

Open Rowledger. Turn off Wi-Fi. Convert a statement. It works, because the whole converter — PDF parsing, OCR, reconciliation, exports — is code that runs in your browser. There is no upload step to trust us about.

For firms, that means client statements never become a third party's data: no subprocessor to disclose, no retention period to audit, no breach surface outside your own machines.

Frequently asked questions

Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read by code running in your browser; nothing is transmitted to Rowledger or anyone else. You can open the page, disconnect from the internet, and convert — it works the same.

Which banks are supported?

Rowledger is not template-based: it detects the date, description, money-out, money-in and balance columns from the layout and verifies them arithmetically, so most bank and credit card statements work out of the box. See the bank directory for layout notes on 100+ banks.

What does "Reconciled" mean?

Opening balance + credits − debits equals the printed closing balance, and every row that shows a running balance matches the extracted amounts. It is the same check a bookkeeper would do by hand, run automatically on every conversion.

Does it work with scanned statements or phone photos?

Yes. Scans and photos are recognised with OCR that also runs in your browser. The free plan covers the first two pages per scanned statement; Pro removes the limit.

What is free and what is Pro?

Free: unlimited conversions of text-based PDFs to CSV and Excel, one file at a time, with the full reconciliation check. Pro adds QBO, OFX and QIF exports, batch conversion with merged exports, unlimited OCR, and auto-categorization. Pro is $14/month, $99/year, or $249 once — with a 7-day free trial that needs no card.

Can it merge twelve monthly statements into one file?

Yes (Pro). Drop all files at once; each is converted and reconciled separately, then exported merged and sorted by date.

How does it compare to DocuClipper or BankStatementConverter.com?

Those services process statements on their servers and charge by page credits that expire. Rowledger processes on your device, has no page credits, and shows a reconciliation result for every file. See the comparison.

Is there a file size or page limit?

No fixed limit — conversion speed depends on your computer. Text PDFs convert at hundreds of pages per minute; OCR takes a few seconds per page.
