Convert bank statements to Wave
Drop a PDF statement and download the file Wave imports directly (OFX (recommended) or CSV). Converted on your computer, reconciled against the printed balances, never uploaded.
How to import into Wave
- Drop the PDF (or scan) above and check the badge reads Reconciled.
- Download OFX (recommended) or CSV. OFX files are part of Pro. The 3-day trial unlocks them and needs no card. CSV is on the free plan.
- In Wave: Accounting → Transactions → More → Upload a bank statement, choose the file, and map or confirm the columns.
- Review the imported transactions and reconcile as usual. Full walkthrough: guide.
Why OFX (recommended) or CSV
Wave recommends OFX/QBO over CSV because they carry transaction IDs. Rowledger exports both, with credit-card statements written as card accounts automatically.
Questions
Is the statement uploaded to convert it for Wave?
No. Rowledger runs inside your browser; the PDF never leaves your computer. You can convert with the internet disconnected.
Which format should I use for Wave?
Wave recommends OFX/QBO over CSV because they carry transaction IDs. Rowledger exports both, with credit-card statements written as card accounts automatically.
What if the statement is a scan?
Rowledger OCRs scans and photos on your device, then checks every row against the printed balances so OCR slips are flagged instead of imported.
How are duplicates avoided?
QBO and OFX exports carry a deterministic unique ID per transaction, so importing the same statement twice does not create duplicates. For CSV imports, exclude overlapping rows in the accounting software.
